Her worryingly skinny frame was a talking point of the summer. But it appears country star LeAnn Rimes has put on a few pounds over a recent weeks and is now sporting a healthier-looking bikini body. As the singer today embarked on her third holiday in as many weeks – this time in Hawaii – she was quick to slip into her favourite attire of a two-piece for a spot of sun worshipping on the beach.
She arrived to the tropical island with husband Eddie Cibrian and the pair met up with some pals soon after touching down. LeAnn confidently strutted her stuff on the beach as she engaged in a game of catch with her pal. But she looked a far cry from the disappearing frame she was sporting a few months back.
Back in October, she talked about her weight loss, blaming it on stress from her 2010 divorce from Dean Sheremet.
‘[When I] was going through a divorce and I couldn’t get out of bed… I gained 10 pounds, and then I lost 10 pounds because now I’m moving around and I’m working,’ she told the Associated Press.
‘I don’t stop, and no one sees that [weight loss] actually can happen like naturally. It’s a natural progression of life.’ ‘It has to be some big deal and some issue,’ the country star said.
‘I’m glad there are people out there that are smarter than that and they don’t buy into it.’
In an interview with The Ellen DeGeneres Show last summer, Rimes denied she is struggling with an eating disorder.
‘[The press has] been very irresponsible [about] calling a lot of people fat or anorexic or bulimic or whatever it may be,’ she said.
‘It seems like bullying now instead of really taking these diseases seriously that a lot of people are going through.’ Her husband Eddie was also keen to defend his Rimes – who he married in April following a much publicised split and divorce from Brandi Glanville. It came amid a barrage of criticism of her skinny frame, including from slender E! host Giuliana Rancic, who said LeAnn looks like she needed feeding up.
‘It bothers me because, obviously, I know she’s healthy. She eats more than I do sometimes,’ he told Access Hollywood a few months ago. ‘She’s just a very [conscientious] eater, as far as what she eats. She eats pretty healthy, but she works out pretty hard too and she actually takes pride in the way she looks and it’s a shame that people will jump on the bandwagon just because she is fit. And she’s far from unhealthy.’
He went on: ‘She works out like crazy. She works out hard. She boxes. She trains,’ he told Access Hollywood.
Rancic’s comments sparked an angry retaliation via Twitter from Rimes. She tweeted sarcastically: ‘@GiulianaRancic hey, we should go to dinner sometime. You get criticized all the time for how small you are. ‘You can see just HOW much I eat and maybe put a stop to this crazy “shrinking” once and for all…..oh, & then we should workout together! Good luck with your restaurant!!!!’ she wrote.
After arriving in Hawaii today, Rimes was quick to entertain her Twitter followers with a spot of innuendo as she tweeted about getting ‘laid as soon as we got off the plane’.
In fact, LeAnn was not sharing details of her sex life, and was actually referring to the lei garland she and Eddie received as they touched down on the tropical island. The pair were snapped with their floral necklaces in place as they headed to their hotel in Maui. It wasn’t long before they joined a couple of friends for lunch by the beach, with LeAnn stripping down to a string bikini to reveal her super skinny figure.
The singer is mixing business with pleasure in Hawaii, where she plans to perform a private show for Hyundai and the PGA Tournament. After being greeted off the plane with a tradition Hawaiin welcome of a lei garland, Rimes tweeted: ‘We got laid (as in flowers around our necks) as soon as we got off the plane,’ adding with a cheeky wink: ‘Couldn’t resist 
.’ She posted a photo of herself showing off her longs legs and wearing a denim shirt, before posting more updates about how much fun she was having.
‘Love you guys, talk later…..going to the sun,’ she tweeted, adding soon after: ‘Private cabana w/ hubby and best friends…..doesn’t get any better than this!’ This comes as the third holiday for LeAnn and Eddie in as many weeks. In the middle of last month they took a vacation to Mexio, where they were snapped putting on a series of public displays of affection on the beach.
After sunning themselves in Mexico it was on to Aspen in Colorado for a spot of skiing and winter sports. They returned back to Los Angeles earlier in the week before making the out to Hawaii today. And no doubt the amorous pair’s PDA are soon to follow.
